Apple Season is a Comin
This last Friday, my friend Sandy O. and I moseyed our way through western North Carolina…apple country. We had heard that the apples were just starting to come in, and we needed to check out the validity of this rumor for ourselves. Our destination…Barber Orchards Fruit Stand in Waynesville, NC.
Why Barber’s? After all, western North Carolina is littered with apple stands. This is why…
This is all the reason you will ever need to hunt down this fruit stand. If you go this fall, be prepared for the lines that will form to snatch up these beautiful baked apple goods. My recommendation…the apple turnovers.
Fall is apple season around these parts. Apples of all sizes and varieties. The McIntosh are just coming in, and we managed to snatch up a peck or two. I shared this trip’s bounty with my neighbors, but I will be making apple chips later in the fall so I guess I’ll have to make another trip. (darn ;))
At Barber’s you can also fill your shopping basket with other farm fresh produce. We picked up a few end-of-the-season goodies while we were there.
