Flower Ornament Craft Fail
Oh, boy. I am so not a crafty person. I admire all of you who are. How on earth do you do it? In my mind I am this amazing Martha Stewart type, whipping through Hobby Lobby and gathering my supplies. Then returning home to fashion fabric poinsettias for the Christmas tree all before cooking that five-course dinner. Bah hahahahaha! There are so many wrong things with that image!
It all started with a trip to Pier 1. I am on the hunt for those cute woodland animal bottlebrush natural (yadi yadi) ornaments for the tree. Yes, I am so very aware of how incredibly far behind the holiday schedule I am compared to every single other person on this planet. In fact, I’m pretty sure many of you are already secretly working on Valentines’ Day and Easter. Anyway, I purchased a few of those cute little creatures on Saturday, and decided to go back on Monday to get a squirrel or two. Would you believe that every squirrel in the whole dang joint was gone? In a day and a half! (Yes, there are all sorts of jokes floating around in my head right now!)
While I was there, I found these really cute fabric poinsettias for the tree. After taking a gander at the price tag and calculating about how many I wanted I decided that…I could make those! Famous last words! So I bought one for a pattern and headed to the craft store.
Ok…put me in Home Depot and I can find anything…really…anything. I know that store inside and out. The craft store? Well let’s just say I was in there for awhile, and I managed to walk up and down every aisle at least three or four times. Holy cow! But I left determined to whip out those poinsettias.
Two days later I am still trying to figure out the best way to make this happen. I’m stuck on the fabric stiffener. That’s probably step #2. Maybe I’ll submit it to Craft Fail. (Yelp, there is a the website for such endeavors.)
This may take awhile…
Happy crafting you Christmas elves!
